After this, we’ll all stop, okay?

I don’t understand how so many people are actually sad about Michael Jackson passing. Yes, the man was arguably one of the greatest musicians or our time and contributed some really great music that I still enjoy, but he hadn’t come out with anything new of note since what? The early 90s maybe? For the past 15 years or so, the man was a child-molesting, baby-endangering, Beatles-song-stealing, pet-monkey-having, skin-bleaching freakshow who destroyed his own face and body. The only thing I’m surprised about is that it didn’t happen sooner.

I have respect for Michael Jackson as a musician, so I mourned the loss of his music sometime in the mid-nineties. I had no respect for Michael Jackson as a person so I will not mourn his death. The only thing I will mourn is the loss of the pedophilia jokes, which will now be considered to be in even worse taste.

If you want to mourn the death of somebody, mourn the senseless death of Ed Thomas, the high school football coach who was nothing but an inspiration to anyone he encountered, who didn’t molest children, who didn’t hold his children over balconies, who didn’t steal the entire Beatles catalog, who was shot point blank in the head several times while supervising a weightlifting session.

Walk away from your computer, turn off the TV, pop in a CD, and come back tomorrow. The guy was a living legend. He wasn’t only relevant, but an icon for the better part of four decades. People have spent the last 15+ years watching him turn into a freakshow; let them have a couple days to appreciate the part of his legacy worth remembering. Then we can all go back to posting cat pictures.

I agree. The guy was a living legend, give him some respect. Also, don’t let what the media portrayed to you over the last 15 years be what you remember about him. The media are cruel, indecent human beings, who will take anything bad about someone’s life and run with it so they can make some money.

WHO FUCKING CARES. I’m sorry, I know the guy was extremely influential in the area of music, but other than that his contributions to society were limited. People die EVERYDAY. And there are bigger, much more important things going on in the world right now.
